Iowhat?!

Dear American electoral system:
How can you make something that should be simple - "I vote for that guy and not that guy" - so complicated?

Tonight is the Iowa Caucuses, considered the first hurdle for politicians wanting to be the next US President. The Caucuses started less than half and hour ago, I'm watching on CNN, and I'm already as confused as I've ever been on anything. (I'd rather do the taxes for my entire neighbourhood than try to sort out what the heck is going on in gymnasiums and libraries across Iowa right now.)

What benefit does this system offer? It seems complicated for the sake of being complicated.

But what do I know, I'm not American. Maybe it makes sense to everyone but an observer.

Like the Iraq War.

I've actually got to give a mediocre thumbs up to the Republicans here though. Their system for voting tonight is slightly less retarded than the Democrats'.
